The region's newest attraction opened
in March of 2001 in the Cambria City
National Historic District. The attraction
is housed in the former Germania brewery
and chronicles the lives of European
immigrants at the turn of the century
and the roles they played in the development
of the nation's Industrial Revolution.
The unique interactive permanent display,
titled America: Through Immigrant Eyes
allows participants to experience everything
from the compilation of languages to
the heat and smell of a steel-making
blast furnace. The Johnstown Area Heritage
Association created the attraction and
researched the era for more than seven
years prior to the museum's development.
